Teacher Training for Footsteps
Through Time
The Education Department
invites all educators to preview the exhibit and learn how it can become
an important part of the life sciences, social sciences, language, and
visual arts resources for you and your students. The 7,000 sq. foot permanent
exhibit features artifacts that can be touched, manipulated, compared,
and used as sources for many styles of teaching and learning.
There are several
ways to preview the exhibit before you schedule a tour for your students:
Join us for a teacher
training exhibit walk-through. A museum educator and a curator of Physical
Anthropology will give you a guided tour of the exhibit. Space is limited
to 40 teachers per session. Check the Calendar section of this website
for upcoming dates.
You may also visit
the Museum on your own during weekday afternoons until 4:00 p.m. These
informal visits must be scheduled in advance so that one of the education
staff will be available to explain the exhibit. Please call (619) 239-2001
to schedule a time. (Guests and family members are charged regular admission.)
You may also visit on a weekend. Your admission will be free (guests and
family members pay regular admission charges), but you will have to be
registered in advance. We will not be able to extend free admission without
advance registration for weekend teacher visits. Although there will not
be an educator to escort you through the exhibit, educational materials
will be left at the Museum's admission counter for your use. Call (619)
239-2001 to register.
